Supernatural and Soup Jokes (S6 premiere)

I feel that the greatest tragedy of the premiere can be summed up with two facts:[livejournal.com profile] lavinialavender and I only talked for on hour after the premiere (to compare, we talked for two hours over the 1:10 minute preview) and at this moment I am obsessing over, not Sam, not Dean, not monsters, but soup jokes.

Because their new family are the Campbells!! I have so many lines. So far Lavinia has mentioned "Mmm Mmmm, Suspicious" and the one going through my head right now is (from Dean) "Sam! Why do you need all these souped up relatives when you can have me?"

If there is never a soup joke in this series, I will be saddened. And if some of those Campbells don't start dying off soon, I'm going to think that I've ended up in a cheesy conspiracy show.

In other news...I just don't care enough yet. My judgments is so suspended you could tightrope on it. This felt very much like an intro, without much meat. I was briefly excited that the creepy horror movie vibe was back (I have missed that since S2) and shocked and amused that one of my sillier pre-show theories (that all the horrible things that appeared in the preview could just be caused by Dean having hallucinations) was actually mostly true.

I'm tired of a lot of the old tricks, down to the chick-burning-on-ceiling motif. You know it's old when someone is dying horrifically, and I'm giggling.

Also, I don't like the Campbells, but I'm currently okay with that. I think they have nefarious plans (black market monster-parts trading?), which Sam is clearly not in on (good boy Sam) and Granddad Campbell has always been a bit of a jerk.

Lisa and Ben are going to have to be handled very carefully, because most of the things I can think to do with them (death, abandonment, "sorry, I guess we don't actually like you, Dean") will just look bad and really really piss me off. Because I finally like them! Lisa has a character and has finally given a good reason why a woman would take in a crazy man like Dean (know I love him, but he was NUTS last season, reasonably, but NUTS).

Too much is in limbo. So much is to come. I want my monsters back.

I want the Winchesters to ladle out justice. I want them to boil away their issues. I want them to bowl the Campbells away (and I want to find the perfect soup joke) but I think it's all going to have to wait another week. Bloody.

Lol, did you ever see my 400-word fic about Dean shooting Bela in the head, right at the end of her first episode? I shared it with you ages ago. But you should write your own too, absolutely, it's very therapeutic.

Yes! I remember it. Honestly, possible when I think about rewriting it, I may just be taking the one you write and transposing it in my head.

But that may be because it was so very true.
