I was originally going to post about 6.10 and 6.11 at the same time because I watched them both tonight. But then...I rambled and went on, so it got quite a bit longer than expected.

* * *

One thing you’ve got to say about soulless!Sam, when he given an angel a threat, you certainly believe him. “And I don’t sleep.”

(Things/people that don’t sleep are creepy. Not just for the not sleeping part, but because that would mean they are active in the wee hours of the morning, the creepy times of the night when most respectable folk are vulnerable. What would I do with 6-10 more hours in a day, every day? Probably read a lot more fanfiction.)

Family! I love family angst. It’s my favorite part of SPN, and many other things, and what I write about the most.

I owe myself ice cream. I totally knew Samuel wanted something with Mary, but as we have known since the first episode of season 2: DEALING WITH DEMONS TO BRING PEOPLE BACK FROM THE DEAD JUST MEANS THAT PEOPLE WILL HAVE TO DEAL WITH SHIT FOR THE NEXT FOUR+ SEASONS, THANK YOU JOHN WINCHESTER.

I should feel vindicated, but I really don’t. Because, you know, that’s what it had to be. At least the first pillar of SPN is back in full force again.

Hahah, “Doing this, this is how the bad guy gets us EVERY time.” Yeah. What Winchester/Campbell HASN’T sold his/her soul for a love one (if trying counts, then there’s not even doubt about Sam). Grandma Deanna. The cousins. Though…you never know. We may just not have a backstory on them. Let’s just say I wouldn’t be SURPRISED if there were a few more folk with their soul in hock. (in hock is a fascinating phrase by the way. So descriptive and dismissive, but amusing at the same time. And I had to look up how to spell it. It seemed vaguely Latin-ish so I forgot the ‘k’…)

INTERESTING thought. Samuel is obsessed about Mary: “Unlike you, I haven’t learned to live without her.” But what about his wife, Deanna? What about all the other Campbells that apparently got killed after Mary died (wasn’t that mentioned in one episode, that someone was picking off her friends and relations, unbeknownst to anyone because, you know, no one talks to one another?). There’s a lot of obsession going on, and it’s really really focused. *puts up hands * which I have no problem with, just so you know, just…I like to pick at these things too. Because I don’t actually like Samuel very much.

Castiel watching porn make me giggle insanely AGAIN. “It was there.” I’m liking this episode immensely. But it’s the same kind of horrible-gleeful-enjoyment I get from writing FC evil!AU, or writing semi-evil crack, soooo….I don’t know how I feel about this.

I like how they go for their guns.

“Porno with Angels” should be a band. Or at least a song/album. Perhaps I should check to make sure it isn’t one already.

Lavinia, I have a sudden, clawing urge to put Freak Camp in Missouri.

A Winchester/Campbell that isn’t suicidal for family members? It’s almost defying a law of nature. BUT just goes to show that Samuel does not actually consider the boys to be part of his family. They are just spawn of that little dweeb Winchester. I mean, he didn’t even get Sam counseling when he, you know, didn’t have a soul. Hmmm, wonder if Samuel has a soul? He seem to. I have been having this horrible thought lately, this thought that I don’t want to be in my head, but what if Crowley didn’t bring Sam’s soul back, not because he wanted to hold it over his head (because Sam didn’t know that Samuel was capturing monsters for Crowley, and didn’t know that he could do this to get his soul back, thus soulless!Sam ≠ increased number of Alphas found for Crowley) but rather because Crowley CAN’T GET HIS SOUL OUT OF THE PIT. I mean, Lucifer was in Sam, Lucifer seems to be a more spiritual sort of being (like a soul) and the Pit was designed to hold Lucifer, so maybe when Crowley slipped Sam’s body out, the soul got stuck in the cage too, like a fish that can’t get through a net.

I mean, if I were a nefarious mastermind that needed the Winchesters, I’d want anything. Even creating a body wouldn’t be that hard. I mean, Samuel’s been DEAD DEAD DEAD for decades, and he looks all right.

Yeah, I’m not sure about this whole Crowley thing. I mean, I love him as King of Hell, but anything that would get Sammy out of Hell seems like it would also return Lucifer, and that…would not fit with Crowley’s plans.

I really like this new woman who’s playing Meg. Because she still talks like Meg, which is always impressive. Hard sometimes when folk can switch bodies to have the base personality transfer effectively across actors. *mwahahah, makes it sound rather like possession *

I like how soulless!Sam can creep anyone out.

“What I’m just supposed to trust you?”
*Cheerful smile* “No, you’re not that stupid.”
*Uncertain looks all the way around.*

Soulless!Sam, what are you doing with that gun?

Awww, (again, this makes me evil) I love how Cas’s description of what could happen to Sam when he gets his soul (“that mutilated thing”) back is SO similar/close to what so many lovely, excellent folk have written about when Sam comes back from hell! So close, so clear, that I’m like “Yes! I have read about this! It is very likely!” *bounce bounce *

*delight! Delight! * Replicant!

Though I do feel a bit sorry for Cas. Just because he’s an angel of the Lord, people expect him to be able to FIX stuff, like, the universe, and Sam’s psyche (that they haven’t gotten out of hoc yet). And he does have a war on. I’m very concerned about this war. I mean, I don’t actually want to be hearing about it, but it seems like he deserves a bit of sympathy. And you know that one day, he’s going to show up on the Winchester’s abandoned-shack doorstep and be like, “So, you know that war I’ve been mentioning off and on the last few months? Yeah, they’re going to be torching the world in a couple minutes. Maybe you can help?”

“Or we fail. And Sam suffers horrifically.”
1) While I love the Winchesters for their undying perseverance in the face of APOCALYPSE and IMPOSSIBILITY sometimes it is nice to have someone say, “This might not work. Because, you know, this plan sucks.”
2) Probably not good for soulless!Sam to hear that.

Is Dean going to get shot in this episode? It really feels like Dean is going to get shot.

The kiss…is lovely. And rather hot. I’m rapidly falling in love with Castiel. I mean, because he’s edging toward human again, and he has major problems, and he’s still fighting and…I’m not tired of his pain yet.

INTERESTING OBSERVATION: “You sold out your mother for your brother!” This seems really cold, obsessive and illogical until I realized that Samuel has NEVER met Sam when he had a soul. If you had a choice between someone you loved DEEPLY and OBSESSIVELY and the scary dispassionate amoral bastard that is soulless!Sam, wouldn’t you choose Mary any day!

Samuel, you bastard, you have no idea. “You sound like my dad!” Which is both a good and a bad thing.

OMG OMG OMG DEAN I LOVE YOU BECAUSE IT’S SO TRUE

Samuel is scared of intense-faceinshadow!Dean. As he should be. Winchesters don’t die, at least not forever. Even Mary came back as a ghost.

YES STUPID CAMPBELL. You should be frightened, because you are fucking with WINCHESTERS now. And they fought in the Apocalypse. And ended it.

Soulless!Sam clearly cares. Why does soulless!Sam care? I am still frightened of that gun. He seems to actually be sad/worried when Dean was taken away. For a second I thought that he could get amped superpowers from drinking his OWN blood and that…is creepy on multiple levels.

Now THAT is the curse monsters whisper to their children and enemies: “Dean Winchester’s behind you, meat-sack.”

Yup, that’s what I thought.

“Castiel. Haven’t seen you all season.” *cackles * While the phrase functions in the British manner of “time of year” or “period of time” it’s so much more funny as meta.

And, by the feel of this episode a great revelation should be coming fairly soon. And I’m guessing something with Cas. Hmmm, continue…

NICE, Cas. Much as I like Crowley as a character, I like the way Castiel incinerates him. Just does. Don’t let the demons talk longer than you need them too, it’s too dangerous.

NOTE: there were also extensive wiggle freak out moments because this episode reminded me SO MUCH OF FREAK CAMP, both the stuff that we actually see and the mood/tone/concepts that they are dealing with. I can sum most of my comment up as OMG FREAK CAMP! FREAK CAMP! But have removed the ACTUAL commentary as I don’t want to spoil anyone for the fic. Eventually. Soon I hope.is

I feel evil now.

Lavinia, I have a sudden, clawing urge to put Freak Camp in Missouri.
NO.

Eh, I didn't like the new Meg so much. As [livejournal.com profile] ratherastory said, she lisped and made creepy babytalk with her sex lines. Made me almost miss the first actress who played Meg.

And I really didn't like the Cas/Meg kiss. It was random and gratuitous and made no sense.

Have you heard the theory that incineration was actually what Crowley may have been after? It might have sent him to Purgatory somehow. :O It does seem unlikely that such a powerful character is gone just like THAT.

The first actress was pretty cool. I miss her too, though I'm also glad that she died at the point when she did.

Hey, for once a woman (though evil) survived! She was creepy, but, hell, I'd rather her be creepy than endearing, really.

ooo, that's a fairly decent idea, that Crowley actually wanted to be incinerated. Or at least be coming back. I'm liking the plot this season, just because it doesn't have EPIC FATE involved.

I don't actually mind the kiss. It felt like Cas is experimenting with sexuality, and, hell, maybe the demon is the only one he doesn't feel guilty for experimenting with because she's using him too.

Oh, that is a horrible thought.

It is rather intriguing the development and sympathetic tones they're giving Meg this far down the road.

I hadn't thought about Cas's kiss as a sign he's experimenting with humanity again, but I like the idea of him only kissing Meg because he didn't care about her. Better them spontaneously kissing Dean, for sure. I wonder if he felt anything from it, besides maybe a physical reaction.

I don't know. I think he...enjoyed the fact that he watched an "instructive video" and then managed to apply the idea.

I mean, he got an erection earlier. I'm fairly sure that's not supposed to happen to angels. So it indicates SOMETHING, perhaps an advance into humanity.

Odd to consider porn given Freak Camp. EVERYTHIHNG ABOUT SPN IS ONLY IMPORTANT AS IT APPLIES TO FREAK CAMP.

Slight exaggeration there, but, you know...

Nah, feels pretty true. Maybe I'll like S6 more once we have THE REAL SAM back again.
