YAAAAAY!
So, first, before I complain about certain things (that have NOTHING to do with the boys relationship) may I say YAAAAAAAAY! RESOULED!SAM I'M SO HAPPY! Sam, with emotions and expression and empathy is so cute and....and...I had no idea how much I was missing that until THERE HE WAS HAPPY AND EMOTIONAL AGAIN! YAAAAAAY.
*sigh* Dean I realize that you can't do anything else, but I still want to hit you over the head. If you have learned nothing from the past you should have learned that NOT TELLING FOLK IMPORTANT THINGS JUST BITES YOU IN THE ASS (and given how very nice an ass Dean has, it continues to me a hideous shame).
Yay! Hotness! It remains the Zeroth Pillar of SPN.
Now, for a NOTE ON VIRGINS: Dear SPN, I am a 23 year old slash erotica fanfiction writer that does NOT have a pink room, and I too am a virgin. We are not all religious with promise rings. (Okay, so I'm religious, but have I mentioned the slash?) Thanks for the stereotype!
And, tangentially to the note on virgins, a NOTE ON DRAGONS: Dragons are really really awesome. They are one of my favorite mythological monsters. And I have no problem with SPN deciding to rewrite the history and lore *cough*soit'seasiertofilmwithoutlookingstupid*cough*. I've realized, writing Freak Camp, that they did REALLY different things with both vampire and werewolf lore, and that's cool, because they laid out the rules and followed them. But apparently, dragons can be all over the place.
So, they're human shaped, okay. But how do they know who is a virgin? Can they smell the virgins? And if so, what's with that one chick? Could they only tell, getting really close, that she wasn't quite? Or is it a magic, hymen-sensing ability? Is it a bit of both, and the girl-who-got-away turned up "intact" in the hymen-sensing department, but up close she didn't quite smell virgin? Or, are the dragons just trolling the brunette population of promise-ring clubs and checking all the girls before they drag them away? In which case, why weren't increased assaults reported in the area?
Now, for a NOTE ON ENDINGS: Why wasn't there one? And I don't mean the episode needed to wrap up everything, but something would have been nice. Sam and Dean are still a bit messed up, Cas was not hugged, no dragons got seriously stabbéd (also, there was one...and then there were more...and i didn't realize that until halfway through the fight scene when I was thinking "But, wait, Dean is...now Sam is...OH, there's...two?"), no hole to Purgatory was prevented/closed/attacked AND no virgins were saved on camera. No swords were returned. No stones were put together (what about the other half of the sword? It's got to be there, right? Maybe Sam should grab that). At times like this I REALLY miss the serial-with-family-angst nature of S2.
BUT, I'm going to end on a happy note, because, you know what, SAM HAS A SOUL AGAIN, EEEEEK! And that is dang good times.
*bounces away happily*
