Fact: I do not speak Spanish well enough to notice, generally, if someone is talking about me behind my back, because, you know, I have trouble keeping up with direct face-to-face coversation about foods that I'm eating. Just don't use my name, and you could probably talk about my laundry hanging, floor washing skills (or lack thereof) all you wanted.

Fact: I am, however, observant enough to notice when someone is hushing the the other people in the room every time I walk through the door.

Thanks for the paranoia burst, Roommate!

Just so you know, I talk about you, too.

Yeah. And honestly, it just irritates me. Because...if you're going to talk about someone behind their back, you should be bright about it (for example, I try not to use anyone's NAME when I talk about them, because anyone can recognize their name, even when said in conversation. Like it makes me REALLY twitchy when I hear things that sound like "Bailey" coming out of their rooms, though it could just be "vale" or "baile" or something. Yeah, right, I really just think they're talking about me...)

When people aren't sneaky about gossip I take it almost as an insult. Like, sure, you're saying stuff about me, and that is fine because everyone talks about everyone, but you think that I'm so STUPID I'm not going to notice.
